Afghanistan's livestock sector is characterized by a transition from nomadic pastoralism to semi-intensive farming. However, the lack of standardized husbandry equipment often leads to high mortality rates due to inadequate shelter and feeding systems during the harsh winters of the Hindu Kush region.
In the poultry sector, many small-scale farmers still rely on traditional open-air sheds. The introduction of a structured poultry pen house is becoming critical to protect flocks from extreme temperature swings and predatory threats, which are prevalent in rural provinces like Herat and Kandahar.
Furthermore, the inefficiency of manual feeding and watering methods has hindered the scale of production. There is an urgent demand for modernized equipment in poultry farm operations to reduce waste and improve the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) for local producers.
